Our 1 Day in Utah

After arriving late the night before from Idaho, we decided to take one day to recover before continuing on home. We stayed with the Riches, a family we became very good friends with when we first moved to Arizona. They have three boys and Tyler, Jared and their oldest, Joshua became the best of friends. Then Nate and their second son, Taylor became best friends. And what did the rude Riches do??!!! They moved to Utah!!!! We really miss them! But we have been able to see eachother a couple times each year and it is amazing how our friendship picks up right where it left off! Sometimes in life we have the opportunity to make life-long friends and that is what happened with the Riches.
So for our one day in Utah we went up into one of Utah's beautiful canyons and played at a lake all day! Kobi loved it and it was one of the most beautiful places we have been to in a long time!
We had so much fun kayaking, eating, throwing rocks in the lake and the ball for Kobi, and the boys used one of the signs as a rock slingshot! Fred and I were jealous of all the people who had brought their quads and were riding on the trails around the lake.

The only damper on the day was a MEGA storm! Fred and Troy had Tyler and Jared on the kayaks in the middle of the lake. Chantelle had made the 1/4 mile (or at least it felt that long)trek up to the bathrooms, and so I had the other 5 boys, all under the age of 5 by myself by the lake. All of the sudden we saw lightning and then thunder cracked and it sounded like it was right next to us! Well... all the boys freaked out! As if that wasn't bad enough, it started to rain and then 30 seconds later started to HAIL!!!!! I am standing there trying to tell Fred to get the heck off the lake by motioning like a crazy woman with my arms, and attempting to calm the panicking children at the same time. Not easy!!!! I also forgot to mention that to get to the cars I had to try and pack two infants and herd the 3 other boys and a very wet Kobi up a VERY steep hill, becoming slicker by the minute from the rain!
Luckily everyone came back to the side of the lake at almost the same time and we all made it to the cars without traumitizing the boys too badly! It is those situations, so stressful at the time, that are funny to look back on! We will certainly remember our one day in Utah!!!!!
